This is the story of Zhang Guimei, a female high school principal who burned her frail body like a candle to light the way toward a brighter future for thousands of girls from the mountains. At 64 years of age, single-handedly she has held up the dreams of countless children. She owns no house or car — a girls' high school is her everything. She has no children of her own — every student of Huaping Girls' High School is her child. She lives in poverty yet gives everything she has, helping more than 1600 girls walk out of the mountains. But with the village short of funds, the school buildings had long fallen into disrepair — shabby and dilapidated, with broken doors and windows and mismatched desks and chairs — virtually a safety hazard. Lijiang Huaping Girls' High School and its 64-year-old principal Zhang Guimei thus became the focus of national news. Upon learning of this, Xinxi launched this charity education-aid project for Huaping Girls' High School, donating 300000 yuan to build new school buildings and help the children walk out of the mountains!
